MN

Back from MN trip. Busy, Busy!!..Lots of flooding up North these days. I don't like detours so I was a little panicky about the whole thing. We were busy the whole short time I was there. Got my new book from my favorite author and got to visit my favorite book store!!! It was fun! They have a new dog that hangs out at the store and he is a lover!! Got cheese, forgot cheese:( and realized that my god daughter is truly a teenager (YIKES)!

Book Fever

My book fever is slowing down....I finished a book I got at the library and am working on another, but it is slow going....I am thinking about buying one, but am procrastinating, so we shall see....
My list of books to buy is getting larger for May, but does me no good right now. :(

VORACIOUS

Voracious, my appetite for books these day....

I have been keeping busy in the last week and this one started the speed reading frenzy.-a definite page turner that kept me wanting more and kept me involved. No Lincoln Rhyme, but it didn't matter.

I love this book and read it again-I won't say more because people are getting copies for their different birthdays. It's a good book and a quick read...

I needed a Star Trek original and got my fix with this 2nd hand book. In the Star Trek universe, all the books need to match up with previous storylines....This includes from all the movies, all the tv shows, and all previous books.....Differences can happen with alternate timelines, but that's a whole other story in itself...I forgot the Jodi Piccoult book that started the whole run of "need to read".

It kept the pages turning, but I don't think it will be a keeper....

I'm reading a James Patterson book at the moment and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm hoping to make it thru the nite and then will think about venturing forth to find more good ones tomorrow....Wish me luck!

I'm Reading....And Flustered About It

Right now I have started a paperback copy of "The Summons" by John Grisham.........Why do I say paperback? I have all the John Grisham legal books in hardback and for the life of me, this book, published in 2005, can't be found.....anywhere... I called my in-laws to check and see if they had "a copy" (they write their books down in lists) and they hadn't read it................I can't find it anywhere.......so, I went ahead and bought a paperback from WalMart (Marshalltown now has no book store-another story).

To make a short story longer, I have finally decided that I will never meet, become best friends with (I already have one of those), or become the soul person supporting John Grisham so I can rest easy and just do a paperback. Will I buy the new one? Jury out. I have heard mixed reviews and will ponder before purchase.

I'm Reading

I'm reading another mystery that I picked up at our closing Waldenbooks store for 40% off. They are leaving our mall on the 24th so our town will be without a bookstore :(. A 30 minute trip to Ames will be the closest salvation. I will have to stock up-

Books, Etc

Well, I am disappointed to say the least that our Waldenbooks store is closing.........A very small store (maybe that's why), but it will force me to do any serious book shopping in Des Moines or Ames, so much for helping the locals...........The book I just finished

was a fun little read I got from the BFF. Quick and easy and you still got to be part of the story....

At the moment I am reading a book on serial killer Ted Bundy, so you can tell that my tastes go from one end of the spectrum to the other.........Oh well.....

Michael Crichton Revisited...........

Not to forget Disclosure (book better than Demi Moore and the movie), Rising Sun (Sean Connery and the movie great- book just as good), Timeline, The Terminal Man, The Lost World, State of Fear................A true loss of a good storyteller.................

New Book

I developed a liking for his books while I was living in Iowa City and he was teaching there....It's much better than some of his recent stuff and since I've been reading before bed lately, it's been hard to put down OR go to sleep....It's a good read, though, and I'm always glad for that..

Done

Well, I finished the book. It even got me up out of bed to finish...It was engrossing..........To say it was a good read would not do the book justice....You should read this book...maybe that is the better thing to say....

Book of the Day

I am working on this book after finishing the Connelly book The Brass Verdict, which was really good (thank you Once Upon a Crime). It is engrossing and I should have a good chunk done before I have to work, yes work, at Bath and Body...Christmas sales meeting-joy.

A Funny Thing Happened....

A funny thing happened at the B&B store today. A woman was checking out, when low and behold, I saw her Waldenbooks bag with 2 John Sandford books in it..........Being the fan I am, we struck up a conversation about his books....(Didn't mention the photos or signed books) We talked about Dead Watch, his wife dying, and how he has become quite prolific again.... SHould have mentioned that she really needs to read the Prey books in order, but, it was a nice conversation. Lasted a couple of minutes, but was the highlight of my work day...:)

New Books

BFF- your books are being bumped down my list again....I have The Brass Verdict coming from Once Upon A Crime Books in Minneapolis, a new David Morrell book comes out on Oct 28th, and I have 2 Star Trek books coming out the end of the month as well. I am still working on Heat Lightning. Gosh darn it, I've just been selling soap so much that I haven't gotten into the book any faster. Kind of sucks, but nice to be busy....I am excited, though, so many new books to read!! Yeah!!

Heat Lightning

Once Upon A Crime Books has come through again and are mailing me my personalized, signed copy of Heat Lightning......No, I probably won't make it up there for the John Sandford stop :(, but my book is coming...............And they are shipping it to me!!! Yes, you heard me right- the book store (Gary and Pat) are taking time out of their schedules to send me my book....wrapped tight and secure............This is customer service to the max and much appreciated :)

Heat Lightning Tour

Well, I am very lucky. The new book that I have been waiting for is coming out September 23. The author, my favorite, John Sandford, will be making one and only one stop on this tour and that is at my favorite bookstore Once Upon A Crime in Minneapolis on September 23. My BFF teases me, but I have been checking their site daily, and sure enough, up pops a tour stop. I made a quick call to Once Upon A Crime and they already have me on the list for books, signed, and personalized. How we pay will be dealt with later..........Yeah! These people are amazing. If I was closer, I would be broke stopping at their store whenever possible. They take care of their customers and they remember you!! AMAZING this day and age!! Thank You Gary and Pat!!

BREAKING DAWN

On a scale of 1-4, a definite 4 and a very good read!! Well worth the time and trouble to get the book even though I had to sit in the parking lot to avoid listening to "the band" that was playing. I enjoyed the story even though parts were predictable. Will be a reread series, but I will probably leave it on the shelf for a bit...........Nice to have something besides Harry Potter that got my interest so much and kept it!! And the cover, totally get it, surprised that people didn't like it, maybe now that they have read the book they will appreciate it more--

Today's the Day

Well, the day is finally here and book #4 is coming out in a few hours (for those of us crazy enough to go at midnight). I am excited for Breaking Dawn and while I probably won't stay up and read the whole thing like I did for HP 7, I am happy for another great story. On that note, I also registered for my copy of The Tales of Beetle the Bard, while it might not be Harry Potter, it will probably get me to give 7 another read, and maybe 6 first so I am ready for the movie...........Great to have some good books in the future!!!!!!!

FINISHED

I got a little ambitious and finished Eclipse last nite. I ripped through the last 150 pages and probably missed some details because I was so d--- tired, but I finished. Nothing that I expected!! Very interesting!! I am with my BFF. Team Edward. Really there isn't a choice. If she chooses differently, then all the other books were for waste. Team Edward, definitely Team Edward.......How many days 'til August 2??

In The Groove

I've barely started book 3, but have been surfing the net and have to admit, I am excited by this whole vampire thing. Devout reader of Anne Rice and her vampires, I like Stephanie Meyer's just as much and am happily engrossed in the tales of Bella and Edward. I'm definitely glad to have reserved by copy of Breaking Dawn and will wait in anticipation for the movie. Don't know if I am Team Edward or Team Jacob. I haven't got that far yet. I go back and forth so hopefully book 3 will pull me one way or the other....I'd like to see her go vampire, but am not sure..........................

Booking It, But Pacing Myself

I finished the Twilight book. It was fantastic....I will start the 2nd one tonite. I bought #3 and put a reserve in for #4. There is supposed to be a midnight deal going on like they did with Harry Potter. Don't know if I will go that far, but the books are looking like they will be a good read. I just hope I can make the other two last a week or so, I hope...
