What I Did Over My Weekend

I got to go to MN this weekend and hang out with my goddaughter Hannah. It was her school carnival this weekend and will be her last because she graduates from 5th grade this year and will go to middle school in the fall. We had a lot of fun! We also got to visit Once Upon A Crime. It is a bookstore in Minneapolis that I have been emailing with for about a year. It is quite a charming place and am lucky that they will be able to get me a signed copy of my favorite author John Sandford's, new book. I was a bit giddy and over the edge with exitement, but had a fun time. Spent my drive home listening to books on CD. They are my new passion with long car drives!! Currently working on The Memory Keeper's Daughter. It was supposed to be a top book, but it jumps around a lot. I think it is better on CD>>

It's Not Easy Going Green

I'm working on trying to go green with my shopping habits. It seems to be the "in" thing at the moment. It's not as easy as it seems to get into a new habit. I am currently 3 for 5 in my shopping trips. I've discovered it doesn't just work to put the bags in the car. The bags have to sit beside me (all the time) or I forget I have them and am too lazy to leave the store and my shopping to go back out and get them out of the car. I have other problems as you can see. The children love the bags so it makes it harder to get them back out to the car. Wendell is seen here enjoying his new discovery. The other day my husband lost our 8lb. cat. He searched all over the house for her and finally found her totally curled up and buried inside one of the bags in the kitchen.. HAHA so that is the reason we are having problems going green.

My Mother's Day Button

At Bath and Body they are providing their employees with a tag that you can add a picture of your mother for the upcoming Mother's Day. It's kind of a cute idea and totally in keeping with Bath and Body Works. Anyway, I'd been thinking about what I would put in mine and went round and round with various pics of my mother until I remembered one I had especially picked out. In my mind, she was sitting on a couch, in a colored girlie floatie plaid dress, with some sort of bouquet of flowers....In real life, I found the pic and she is sitting on the couch in a white and silverlike plaid dress holding a bouquet of bows.....Hmm, it's still a good picture and I took it to WalMart to copy so I could cut it and not ruin the original....I couldn't figure out the machine (I know, big surprise) so I had the kid help me. We discovered that the picture was from December 1963 (almost 45 years old!!). I think it might be from a wedding shower of some sort. It's a pretty picture of her and if anyone is at the Marshalltown Bath and Body Works store they can see it these next few weeks. For those of you in Minnesota, I'll bring it with me this weekend. That's my blog for the day, just a cute little story I thought I would share. :)

The Last Lecture

Finally finished watching "The Last Lecture" on You Tube. For anyone that hasn't seen it, it's over an hour long so you have to be committed to it, or leave your computer on and hit it every now and then and get a few more minutes. The second was my choice. Tremendous guy!! His family and students are very lucky to have him in their lives!! Cried my eyes out at the end. Now I just have to get going in the book. There's a chapter on Captain Kirk so I am happy..

Negative Results are a Positive Thing

Well, I am excited. My results are back from my genetic testing and they were negative. Another words, my DNA says that the cancer wasn't genetic related so my risk for recurrence is lower and so is the chance for ovarian cancer. I am happy :) I didn't think I was carrying the weight of it around with me, but I feel like the load has been lifted and I feel a lot lighter. So my negative was a positive and life goes on.....
