Career Evaluation

Well, taking Karen's initiative, I turned in my resume to a dentist downtown for front desk, 4 days a week... Do I want to do it, I don't know, but, my head is in a better place and I think a positive work environment would be a good thing. We shall see, there is a lot of old baggage there....Maybe I will get an interview, maybe not. I do know that with $4 gasoline (it's $3.89 here today) I should probably think about working a few more hours..........Stay tuned, will she work more or not...............

No Cats Today

Lucky us!! Talked to the vet and all the kittens and the Momma Tortie were adopted. YEAH!! We know they went to good homes and now we don't have to worry about them!!!! So, we will quietly bide our time until WHAM it's time to add to our litter....

Trekking to Trekfest

I jaunted on off to Riverside, Iowa this morning to check out this Trekfest. Riverside has been declared the future birthplace of Captain James Tiberius Kirk. They are supposed to do a big thing every year....I drove about 2 hours, it was a nice day, and I thought why not. Pretty boring...YAWN I watched part of a parade. I checked out the "actual birthplace" and saw the marker for it. I looked for their mini Starship, but I swore it was 110 degrees and I had my fill by then. Got a tshirt for my effort and hit the road....So much for the infamous Trekfest, but now I can say I did it....

Mom is Out of the Doghouse

Well, all is well, the kids have gotten over their big adventure. Quincy came to bed last night and slept soundly. Wendell slept in his usual spot. Katie came out for food after Daddy came home. Eli decided to take another day and slept soundly in his chair all day....He's a lucky dude-

Sleeping Cats Lie

Well, it's hours later and they are all still snoozing away....Still traumatized from their adventure and the meds, no doubt........that and they will pay me back at 2:00a.m. .................

The Wild World of (De)Worming

We have survived our early morning adventure to the vet's office. The children, all 4 of them, went unwillingly, of course, after chasing Quincy all around the house for a good 20 minutes, all were packed and ready to go.... Wendell head banged his kennel and tried to get out. Poor Eli bunked with him and they fought the whole way to the vet. Quincy yowled thruout the journey, though how he had the energy, I don't know.....Katie meowed the whole way there. And me, I just drove like a bat out of hell to get there.

Wendell left packages (you know what I mean) on the scales and then on the counter after he got his shots....I was sooo embarassed.....

We were home before 8:30 at a cost of $116 and all were given their pills for worms. Eli got a shot, Wendell got his exam and all his shots. I think we did pretty well..... I also got a partial free sample bag of Greenie treats for the cats..........Forget that, she left the room and I got 4 more bags. 4 cats, $116, they can spare a few bags of free treats, don't you think???

The children are in hiding now and probably will be for the day...Mom is pooped and the ac is cranked...Life is good....

WE HAVE WORMS AND MOM IS ENJOYING HER XANAX

Yes, it is true...Quincy has worms....the yucky rice like tape worm!!! There have been suspicions, but I actually managed to catch one of the things without squishing it and watched it do it's happy dance on my kleenex. EEEWW!! He has probably had them for awhile, and is supposedly in no pain....The others may or may not have them, but will all have to be treated....Waiting until Monday isn't going to put anyone's life in jeopardy (except for MOM who is having a major panic attack). SOOO, Monday we are making a family trip to the vet for pills and then I get to enjoy the after effects....Another EEEWW!! Once they all have the meds there will be no giving them back and forth and life will go on---- I just feel terrible, and lucky that I finally discovered them....Windows and worming, should be an interesting Monday......

A New Kitty??

My vet has kittens and a mommy needing a new home.....Mommy is a tortie and I need a new tortie, but 5 would be a lot and they all get along well right now, for the most part anyway...........Will have to think on it and see if the hubby will go look at her.....I'd love a kitten, but the momma is calling my name..........Of course, every cat calls my name...........

TOO FUNNY

I JUST FOUND THIS PIC AND IT IS TOO FUNNY NOT TO INCLUDE ON THIS BLOG!!!!!!!!!!

Weather Woes

The strange weather in Iowa continues. A levy broke in Des Moines and people have lost their houses for the second time in the remembered past. I got to see the damage the flood was causing last time in '93. This time I have missed out and that's ok by me. I will say this. I hate being woke up in the middle of the night to corral 4 cats and head to the basement because of tornado warnings. Last nite, one was spotted near us so the whole family went to the basement....It was 3:30 a.m. so some of us were getting up anyway, but still. Waking up to that kind of a panic isn't good for the system. After the all clear, I went back to bed. The farmers have to be flipping out from all the bad weather, but they always are no matter what the weather does anymore.....

I'm home from MN and at this point all is well with the children and they are all lovey dovey and happy to have Mom around. Sooooo......what do I dream of, after spending 2 days in 5th grade, but doing reports. Here are the exciting topics- Hepatitis C, and The Variety of Hand Sanitizing Gels and Foams Available. I woke up thinking, HUH?

Well part of the big weekend was the 5th grade graduation ceremony. My god daughter, Hannah, was actually ready to move on to middle school!! It is a very big deal to graduate from Hillcrest. We had the actual ceremony on Thursday with the whole school turning out to say goodbye to their friends when the final bell rang on Friday. Lots of crying teachers, parents, relatives and not to mention kids.....
